Free BMD Records

Whats new on the Internet for all you family researchers? The Genealogist,a web site that promises all the records that you need is a site that i have not noticed before. I was lured by the offer of 3 days free, although i didn't see the link for this. Top of their list was the BMD Index for England and Wales 1837-2005. You can view this index, from 1837-1915 for free at or at

  1. I found this site and decided to sign up for a Gold subscription. In the list it says that with Gold you have access to Census, BMDs, Old parish books and some other things. It it did not say you had access to SOME census. After I had stupidly signed up for a full year in Gold, lo and behold they show the 1911 census but you have to upgrade to Diamond at a considerable cost. It is a money trap. When this subscription is up I'm going with something else. Plus, the Parish books section is very poor. They opened up an entire section to house perhaps half a dozen books at best. I have more old parish books saved in PDF format in my personal digital library than they have in their entire site.

  2. Thankyou for your comment. I find that it is better to just sign up by the month and that way you can really see what you will be getting for your money. is good value but they too have a few packages ,so make sure you know what you are getting.
I hope you did not pay a high fee for your Gold level.
